Funny video
I just wanted to pass on this video which I found humorous even though I am not a classical music aficionado:

Ho Ho Ho Hooray!

mile 1 8:16
mile 2 8:09
mile 3 8:37
.18 mi 1:25
total 5k in 26:25, avg pace 8:30 - new PR

That's what my race looks like when, in an exercise induced brainfog, I mistakenly thought my PR pace was 8:12 and I was only aiming to stay between 8:15 and 8:30 to get in a good race. Stupid, stupid me! That totally explains why I started to fall apart in mile 3 - I was going way too fast!

The race was a lot of fun - the weather was almost perfect, maybe a little windy, many silly costumes were to be seen, and I got to hang with my club for a race. I was exhausted at the end of the race, but now I know why. There was pudding available and I won a sweatshirt in the race raffle. What more could I want?

I'm smokin'!

Another great race and another personal record!

I did a 4 mile race in Lynbrook today. Fly With the Owls was a local race - fourth race in the Long Island Track and Field Grand Prix series. So it attracted some of the fastest runners in the area. There was a good size crowd. More than 800. I'm not sure if that included the walkers division. We get some serious racewalkers out here. I managed pretty even splits of about 8:16 for an official race time of 33:32. My watch got me in 33:02 - that's more than a minute off of my previous best time and it felt much more effortless than that race. I was pushing it, though. I didn't have too much of a kick at the end which tells me that I was keeping up a good pace.

My sixteen week training program for the More Half-Marathon officially starts tomorrow. The first few weeks are pretty much what I normally do, so the only thing I have to work on is consistency. I have a hard time actually getting myself out the door. In week 5, I start adding in a tempo run and the long run is going to start getting longer. I hope we get the mild winter that the experts are predicting or I'm going to be spending a lot of boring time on the dreadmill.
