Nothing exciting going on this weekend...and I like it that way! After all the running around for the past few weekends, it feels good to have absolutely nothing that I have to do. I even played hookie from running -- bad runner, but I have time to get back into it. Last weekend there was a MetroStitcher gathering at Chelly's. The theme was 'start a new large project'. I pulled a kit I bought of a design by Terry Nolan - Viceroy and Monarch in his Wee Beasties series. These are pieces that look like insect specimens pinned to a board.
There was a pretty good turn out for so close to the holidays. I think quite a few people wanted to do something more relaxing.
We stitched and chatted all afternoon. It was good to see some of the longtime members who I don't see as often, such as Marci, Judi and Anita. Chelly cooked us all dinner, including dessert, and I stuffed myself.
Amazingly, with all the stuffing going on this holiday season, I'm only up a pound or two. I'm sure I can take care of that as soon as I get back into my running. If you look at the sidebar, I've started filling in my race plans for this year. It looks like I'll be heading out to Colorado again to visit my sister and race in a different race. I am doing a few longer races this year. Still planning a number of 5k races, but I've been running longer distances in training and know that I can finish a 10k. And that means a new PR!

I noticed you're reading Ian Rankin. I've been toying with the idea of spending a bookstore gift certificate on one of his books. Which would you recommend as a first?
