I joined a fledgling group of cross stitchers in the metropolitan New York City area back in 1997. We decided to call our informal group the MetroStitchers. Since then, members have left or moved away, new members have joined, and some have developed their own creative talents by starting cross stitch design ventures. This past weekend at a get together at Theresa's, Metrostitcher #2, Nicole Valentine of Valentine Stitchery came for a visit from the suburbs of Philadelphia, where she now resides.
We all enjoyed having her and reminiscing about the beginnings of the group.
We had snow today! When I went out at 6:30 to walk the pup, snow was blowing around. None of it stuck and it's a sunny day, now. I love the white stuff, can't wait until we get some that stays around. The pupster is not that crazy about, though. She will go out in it and play, but she doesn't like to..hmm..do her business in it. It's so funny to watch her. Although, I do kind of feel bad for her. She'll start out the door and commence looking for a clear spot to use. This sometimes turns into an incredibly long hike, with what I swear are looks at me that say "where does it end?" Finally, at some point she will get tired and go wherever she happens to be.
I'm getting so close to a happy dance with Generosity by Drawn Thread. I left the random smyrna cross snowflakes for last (not a good idea) and have slowed to a crawl. But I hope to get it totally done sometime this week. Then I'll try and post a photo (if I can make it work in Blogger)
I'm not going to speak of yesterday's elections - but the results are probably why I'm in my current funk. I'm not feeling terribly tolerant right now.
I live in a garden apartment complex - two apartments to a doorway, four apartments to a building. Anyway, I'm in the upstairs unit and the downstairs unit was recently sold. My new neighbor moved herself in about a week ago while I was away at a stitching festival. I knew it would be uncomfortable - you do have to live together to a certain extent. We share a mailslot, we share a vestibule and...we share the airspace. She smokes. I think I'm going to go crazy. I haven't actually seen her smoking, but the apartment reeks of it. I chase my mother outside when she visits and I can't do anything about the smoker downstairs...argh! I'm actually not an anti-smoking advocate. I guess that while I feel that all the laws might be too much, I'm really happy that I can go out and not come home stinking of cigarettes. Now I have it in my house. I think I might be moving to Greenland.
Welcome to my blog - a place to air my thoughts, show my work and brag about my dog. My personal webpage has been up for years, but blogs appear to me the way to go, so here I am :-} I've never been much of a writer. I always resented when teachers would have us keep a journal or write from my thoughts. I much prefer being given a topic to expound on, a template to start from. So I'm not sure how often I'll write or how long this will last, but I'm going to give it a shot.
