Well, I was going through my blog list on my computer at work. I can't get Bloglines on that machine (a net-nanny you wouldn't believe) so I have to look at each one to see if there are any new posts. This can get tedious, so I tend to start cutting out blogs that aren't of particular interest pretty quickly. I also think about taking the blog off my list if there are no posts for quite some time. So yesterday I decided to make the cutoff two weeks. If the blog hasn't been updated in at least two weeks, then out it goes. Then I look at my blog...::hangs my head::...bad blogger.
I do have an excuse. OK, maybe just a story. About a week and a half ago my sister sent me a gift to inspire my exercise goals
Cool, isn't it? I was so excited I hooked it up to my computer as soon as I got it home. That's when I found out that my trusty WindowsME machine was not 'hip' enough to handle it. I looked into upgrading the operating system, but that wouldn't be cheap and it would be tiresome. So, I bought a new computer! I spent the week deciding what software I had to save onto CD so I could transfer it to the new machine. Then I had to figure out how to use the CD Burner that I had. The last two days have been spent with both systems set up in my apartment and a whole lot of running back and forth going on.
So I finally got to post about it. I hope everyone has a good weekend and a happy Easter/Purim/Pagwah if you celebrate any of them. I'm planning on celebrating them all tomorrow
New York City got hit by a storm to end all storms, yesterday. It wasn't the snow amounts, which were only a few inches. It wasn't the wind gusts of 50 mph. It wasn't the 40 degree drop in temperature from morning to afternoon. It was the unbelievable combination of all these things. Last night, my normally 45 minute commute home from work took two hours. The buildings were rattling and cars and people alike were sliding all over the place. So, this morning I decided that I couldn't face another trip to work, and called in for the day off. I feel a little guilty because I just took a day last week and It's not really impossible to get to work, I just didn't feel like it. I blame my Dad for these hangups I have about taking a day off from work. My Dad is one of those people who shows up no matter what. He never took all his vacation days and ended up giving that time back to his employer. He's now retired, but got what was supposed to be a part-time job to keep himself busy. He can't take any time off from there. I think he's crazy, but inside, I do have that little voice that I got from him that makes me feel guilty for taking time off. But I'm planning a day of nothing. Sitting here in my very large sweatpants and very large sweatshirt (getting bigger by the day - notice the ticker at the bottom of my blog - 35 pounds!!) with a pair of wooly socks on, I'll probably watch some TV and get some stitching in. Although it is very cold, the sun is shining and Shannon has found it. She's been shifting about the apartment all morning following the sunshine.
