This weekend is all about the weather. Yesterday, I ran around doing everything in advance of the epic storm that was predicted for today. I got my long run in, 7 miles at a 10:12 pace which felt pretty good. I went food shopping to stock up knowing that I would probably be stuck inside all day today. I had big plans for my stuck inside day. The DVR has tons of shows saved from the last couple of weeks and my apartment looks like a bomb went off in it. But I knew I would have all day today. What is it they say about best laid plans? I woke up this morning at a little after 6am and I could not go back to sleep. I spent a few hours walking around like a zombie. It wasn't too bad outside - fairly light rain. I was beginning to wonder if this deluge missed us. The rain started to get heavier, but still was looking like a normal storm. I finally dozed off on the sofa at around 11:30, curled up with the dog.
At about 1:30 I awoke to what looked like a hurricane hitting my front windows. Sheets of water pouring down the glass. I puttered around for a while making lunch and picking up a bit while I waited for it to heat up. After eating, Shannon decided that she couldn't hold it any longer and needed to go outside. I cracked the front door and she ran out to the end of her flexi-lead. I stayed in the hallway holding the front door to keep the rain from blowing right into the apartment. Drowned rat. That's what she looked like. She tore inside and up the stairs. I grabbed a towel and dried her off. I wish I'd had my camera, but she was so pitiful I couldn't make her wait. Maybe next time :-)
I'm fascinated with what the Boston Marathon is going to look like tomorrow. Probably 20,000 versions of my little dog. Best of luck to those in it and be sure to pack dry gear for after.
